Pauls Jonass continues impressive form with sixth at MXGP of France

Continuing to deliver strong MXGP World Championship results, Standing Construct GASGAS Factory Racing’s Pauls Jonass has narrowly missed out on stepping onto the overall podium in France. With a super close battle for the final spot on the rostrum, Jonass was understandably frustrated to see his 4-5 race results reward him with sixth overall. Despite his frustrations, it was another solid points haul for the Latvian. It was a difficult day for Pauls’ MXGP teammate Brian Bogers who finished 18th overall.

Pauls Jonass: “On paper today was a good day overall, although a fourth and a fifth for sixth is a little bit difficult to accept! I felt pretty strong on the bike in both races and the set up that we have on my MC 450F is working really well, it’s just that I’m missing that last little bit of speed early on in the races. Today was an improvement in that respect from last week, though, so it was actually a pretty decent day with decent points, and we still have a lot of racing to go in the championship.”

Not quite enjoying the same success as his Standing Construct GASGAS Factory Racing teammate at the French GP, Brian Bogers suffered an opening lap crash in race one. Leaving the Dutchman with a lot of work to do around the Lacapelle-Marival track, Brian charged hard throughout the moto for an eventual 20th-place finish.

Hoping to make up for lost points in race two, Bogers didn’t quite get the start needed to battle up front. Nevertheless, the 25-year-old worked his way forwards throughout the moto for 14th in the race, securing 18th overall.

Brian Bogers: “A tough day today. A bad start and then a crash in race one meant I was way down and I felt a little tight and not really flowing. Unfortunately, my start in race two wasn’t much better but I moved into 14th within a couple of laps and stayed there for the whole moto. Not my best day but if I can get better starts then I know I can run up front so that’s the plan for next weekend in Spain.”

Standing Construct GASGAS Factory Racing now looks forward to lining up at the MXGP of Spain on October 17, round 13 of the FIM Motocross World Championship.
